Probably the coolest story I have to tell from my time as a promoter was when we hired Sasha and John for 1 night in Irvine, CA at the now defunct Metropolis.Our residents at the time were Doc Martin and Taylor. Taylor was pretty close to Sasha and helped the owner get them both booked.We had a pretty killer setup compared to most clubs.
Our owner John founded a little company called Quicksilver and when he sold it, he had enough to make sure we had the best stuff.On unique thing about our club was we had a Urei mixer. All rotary, nary a slider or crossfader to be found. Sasha had absolutely no idea how to use it. I got to chill behind them and watch John teach Sasha how to use it. Was the coolest bit of eavesdropping I've ever been able to do in my life.
